Lucy has worked in the specialist area of Hand Therapy since 2004 and in this time assisted in leading the Hand Therapy Team at University College London Hospital before joining a private clinic in London in 2009. In 2012 Lucy gained her Accredited Hand Therapy certificate with the British Association of Hand Therapists and went on to gain her M-level Accredited Acupuncture Foundation certificate endorsed by the University of Hertfordshire.
In 2014 Lucy founded All About Hands to expand the private world of hand therapy providing treatment to upper limb injuries and conditions. Over the last 11 years Lucy has gained experience with plastic surgery, orthopaedics and rheumatological conditions and her areas of specialist interest include: thumb injuries and conditions, reconstructive surgery and sports medicine.
As an ardent sports player Lucy competitively plays hockey and netball and enjoys golf and snowboarding when the opportunities arise. Lucy has a keen interest in sports injuries whether it is a patient’s career or leisure pursuit and she is committed to developing treatment plans to ensure a swift return to action wherever possible. Lucy has gained experience and had the privilege of working with premiership rugby players, european golf players and GB Judo players.
Over the last 4 years Lucy has had the fortunate opportunity to increase her experience and knowledge with professional and amateur musicians. During this time it has highlighted the similarities between a sports player and musician as they are both athletes in their own right.
Musicians and sports players all require balance, strength and endurance and both are at risk of sustaining an injury related to their practice/training program. Alternatively, injuries can occur outside of these schedules which can significantly impact performance and training.
All About Hands can assist in assessing and treating all upper limb injuries and conditions affecting training, performance and play.
